Helpful Chome Extensions

  • AdBlock – block all ads, including those pesky YouTube ads
  • Read&Write – read text out loud, picture dictionary (highlight word “stage” and it will show clip art of a stage), highlight text with different colors, simplify text on the page (removing pictures), free premium account for teachers at rw.texthelp.com/freeforteachers
  • Screencastify – record what is happening on your computer screen for up to 10 minutes, upload to Google Drive
  • Extensity – manage Chrome extensions by turning them on and off
  • Readability – remove ads, pop ups, and images to provide a clean reading experience, you can change the font, margins, color, etc.
  • BeeLine Reader – adds color gradient (blue, black, red) to test to make it easier to follow, also comes with Open Dyslexic font
  • Ginger – grammar and spelling tool, can type directly in the drop down extension, or it will work on anything you type as long as it is enabled, if you highlight a word, Ginger will show you the definition, Ginger also translates text into several languages, limited capabilities in free version
  • Cite This For Me: Web Citer – when in an online article, clicking this will automatically populate citations in APA, Chicago, Harvard or MLA format, they will need to be checked for accuracy, but are a good starting point
